Jimmy Grippo, JFK’s Assassination Investigation and a cast of characters.
Jimmy Grippo was the entertainer of entertainers in my book and he entertained everyone. He did not ask you what a guest did for a living before he performed his wonderful close-up magic. He has entertained Kings, Queens, hoodlums, politicians, celebrities and the average Joe.
I’ll wager 100 to 1 that most of you never knew he operated a small casino in Miami. Jimmy’s name surfaces in conjunction with his casino-hangout for all the “wise-guys” and powers to be in the United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA). No Jimmy did not assassinate anyone, but he had plenty of guests that were definitely “questionable characters”.
One such guest, Jimmy Hoffa, the legendary leader of the Teamsters Union, was so enamored by Jimmy Grippo that he was going to build a super elegant boutique style hotel-casino in Las Vegas, just for Jimmy and his close-up magic. It was going to have only 150 rooms, the finest dining and a special close-up room designed to Jimmy’s specifications. (Note: Jimmy told me about this after Hoffa disappeared in 1975.)
Hoffa loved the way Jimmy performed the salt trick. Jimmy used a shaker of salt, nothing else, to perform this miracle. That is right fellow magicians——nothing else.
Jimmy privately entertained Hoffa in Miami and at Caesars Palace, the Las Vegas hotel that Hoffa financed through the Teamsters Union.
The United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) was established in 1976 to investigate the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr. The HSCA completed its investigation in 1978 and issued its final report the following year, concluding that Kennedy was probably assassinated as a result of a conspiracy. This committee investigated everybody and everything and arrived at the conclusion that the probable conspiracy did not involve the governments of the Soviet Union or Cuba. The committee also stated that the conspiracy did not involve any organized crime group, anti-Castro group, nor the FBI, CIA, or Secret Service. Well they probably got some of this information right, partially right and some totally wrong. But they did investigate everyone.
In the investigation, the FBI was looking into every possible connection to the JFK assassination which included every mob associate, gamblers, Castro associates, Carlos Marcello, Sam Giancana, Santos Trafficante, and many more individuals. (See the attached file) One such individual was Norman Rothman who operated a Havana casino and had connections and associates to the White House.
Norman Rothman and many other high ranking connected guys stayed in the Sea Gull Hotel, wherein Jimmy operated a small casino with live table games. Rothman’s named surfaced in the investigation as he used the hotel for his office from time to time. (See attached)
Let me be perfectly clear: Jimmy Grippo had no knowledge or participation in the planning or assassination of John Kennedy, however he operated a business that certainly had the ingredients that might attract all types of customers. I loved him and I miss him.
